What makes an atheist a less worthy political candidate?

Good question. There is really no reason that they shouldn't be just as 'worthy' to hold political office. Church and state is supposedly separate. Perhaps they would be able to make truly unbiased decisions. At least, I see no reason why they couldn't make as unbiased a decision as anyone else. I've never thought about this before. Thanks for asking it. Maybe it's because people like to support people who they think are like themselves and most people in the US are Christians, in name at least.
