Probiotics are excellent for digestive issues. They aid in digestion, but have many other benefits including warding off l and urinary tract infections and decreasing colon cancer. The best thing is to buy a good quality probiotic with several strains. Acidophilus is good, but their are other strains that are important (such as L.Casei and bifobacterium) that work in different ways. I have used probiotics for years and they have helped me with constipation and stomach upsets.
