Kids show from the 80's?

I'm trying to remember the name of an educational show I watched as a kid, but my memories of it are fuzzy ... there was a guy kinda like Captain Kangaroo, I think he was a fisherman. There was a nice brunette lady, and I think a Cat or some other puppet animal. Does this ring a bell to anyone out there?
